Dish Up Literacy is September 18, 2008

How to Donate

Eat Out!

Eat out at a participating restaurant on Thursday, September 18 and make sure to order a second dessert -- it's for the kids, afterall.

Recruit an eatery!

Do you frequent a place where everybody knows your name? Get them on board for Dish Up Literacy! It's as simple as A-B-C!

  1. Check our list of 2008 participants to see if they've already signed up.
  2. Ask the manager or owner if they'd be interested in participating in our event: 20% on Thursday, September 18.
  3. Sign them up! Download this form [pdf] for them to fill out and submit or have them register online.

Donate Now

We have negotiated with publishers to receive deep discounts on books. Therefore, your cash contribution goes even further toward preventing illiteracy. Here's three easy and safe ways:

Donate a New Book

Pair your favorite wine and (kids') read -- the Stinky Cheese Man, perhaps? Donate a new book to give a kid in need the chance to read!

Volunteer

Last year, 375 volunteers spent 3,000 hours sorting/packing books, reading to children, preparing bulk mailings, organizing book drives, designing our web site, and updating our database. We are happy to work with individuals or with groups of volunteers on a regular or occasional basis.
